What do you infer from ICSI?

I CSI is the abbreviated form of Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection. This is exclusive form of In Vitro Fertilization, which is being used widely nowadays for the treatment of the infertility among the male partner. ICSI India, specifically involves the direct injection of the sperms into the egg for further fertilization to take place.

How is ICSI, India carried out?

ICSI aka Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is a nine step to be carried out. The brief description of the ICSI procedure is given in the steps below:

Step 1: Stiulation of ovary
The ovaries of the female partner are stimulised with the help proper medicatios in order to enhance the follicles growth containing the eggs. The response of ovaries are controlled and the egg is released.
Step 2: Egg retrieval
Eggs released are retrieved after 35-38 hours once the trigger has been released. This takes place under the ultrasound guidance while one is sedated.
Step 3: Sperm selection
The motile sperms which have the capability to bind to the HA are selected. These sperms must be good in quality and mature.
Step 4: Assessment of egg
The cumulus around the eggs is removed so as to have an insight over the quality of the eggs. Only the mature, good quality eggs can be injected with the help of ICSI.
Step 5: Insemination
Here the ICSI comes into role. During this step, the sperm injection takes place into the mature eggs.
Step 6: Fertilization
The dishes containing the eggs and the sperms are placed in the incubator checked at an interval of 16-18 hours after the insemination.
Step 7: Culture
The fertilized eggs are further taken for growth for the period of 2-5 days.
Step 8: Embryo Transfer
The embryo which have been chosen for transfer are loaded into the catheter being passed through the cervix into the uterus. Generally, only one of the embryos is transferred whereas in exceptional cases two embryos are transferred.
Step 9: Vitrification
The good quality eggs are which are not transferred are frozen for future so as to be used in future for the subsequent cycles if first cycle is not successful.
This all process is further followed by a pregnancy test. The pregnancy blood test is conducted within 14 days of the embryo transfer.
